⁑ Bespoke Project - Ideas/thoughts/inspiration ⁑

 

heya & welcome back, this semester's first project is "The Bespoke Object". 

Bespoke meaning: 

adjective

1: custom-made
a bespoke sound system
2: specially made for a particular person:
a bespoke suit

I've been really interested in microbiology and clay/biodegradable materials, and since my minor is in ceramics, I would like to weave it into this project, although I'm not 100% sure how yet. I took the word 'bespoke' to mean custom-made items, and I was thinking more along the lines of creating two items that are made specifically for each other, interlocking in some way.

With this in mind, I decided to merge the aesthetics of microbiology and biodegradable materials into a modular lighting system. This system could be rearranged by the user, producing different lighting patterns based on how it’s arranged. This means that each user would create their own custom version, tailored to their preferences and, therefore, 'bespoke' for them. I was also thinking about an exhibition where the audience could interact with the lighting/block system in some way.
