⊹ The Mass-Produced Object - Process 3⊹
All my lampshades are officially 3D printed!
They're now in their cone 7 firing, which is when the porcelain will become translucent.
I’ve also decided to skip making the base and instead attach the light source directly to the bottom of each shade. I designed a small opening for the cable to pass through, so it all stays clean and minimal.
I also managed to load the tube with clay and set the printer up with minimal he
lp!
Here is a video of this weeks process:
First print, my phone sadly died half way through :/ This print is by far the largest at 11.5" tall and took around 3 hours and more than half of the clay from the tube.
Here I am loading the clay that was a bitttttttt too wet for this step, but last wet clay day was upon us so I had to work with it. The prints from this one is the 2nd one in the first image and you can kind of see how the layers are a bit more squished due to the clay consistency.
Putting all the pieces back onto the tube and printer : this was the step I struggled the most in because the tube was really heavy and getting it on just right was a bit of a hassle as you can see.
